Grief Support

Healing Together

Hopewell House offers free, compassionate grief support led by professionally trained volunteers. Grounded in deep listening and reverence for the sacred journey of life, loss, and healing, we provide a welcoming space for connection and support. Our services include a monthly grief ritual,  six-week grief groups, and quarterly grief workshops, all designed to enter the sacred ground of grief and love.

Community Grief Ritual

Offered every third Monday of the month
6:30-8 pm at Hopewell House

Facilitated by Brooke Lesley and Ashlie Hempstead

Grief Ritual is a practice of transforming individual and collective grief within a supportive community. In a world where we often grieve in isolation, this gathering offers a space to share, process, and honor grief in all its forms. Whether you’re mourning a tangible loss, experiencing existential sorrow, or navigating a challenging transition, all grief is welcome.

This in-person, drop-in event requires no RSVP—simply come as you are. We would be honored to hold space with you.

Grief Support Groups at Hopewell House

Groups run for six weeks
Offered throughout the year, registration required
At Hopewell House, we offer grief support groups designed to help individuals who are grieving the death of a significant person. These groups provide a safe and welcoming space to share personal experiences, explore coping strategies, and build a supportive community through peer discussion.

Our grief groups follow a six-session format, meeting every other week over 12 weeks. Sessions are held in person at Hopewell House, with options for afternoon or evening meetings to accommodate diverse schedules. To ensure an intimate and supportive environment, group sizes are limited, and RSVP is required. Once a group begins, it becomes closed to new members, fostering trust and connection among participants

We welcome members from the greater Portland community and offer new groups throughout the year. For more information on upcoming groups, please contact our grief program coordinator at liz.mccausland@fhhpdx.org or (503) 908-9228.
